Course Overview

Our "Overcoming the Fear of Dogs in Kids" protocol is designed to help children conquer their fear of dogs in a safe, structured, and supportive environment based on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy techniques. As a Kids Around Dogs (KAD) approved professional, Dog trainer, behaviour consultant and qualified human teacher I bring specialized expertise to help kids feel comfortable and confident around dogs.

Price: £200 for a comprehensive 10-week course.

Course Structure:

• 7 Online Sessions: Each session lasts about 20 minutes, focusing on dog body language, coping strategies, and confidence building. This course is supported by a lovely framework of rewards discussed with the parents and child during the initial phone call/meetup. There are homework tasks after each session with agreed rewards for completion. We discuss the homework together each session. The final reward for completing the course and Overcoming their Fear of Dogs is a larger reward agreed beforehand and provided by the parent. Children receive a certificate and a KAD badge on completion. We love to celebrate successes together!

• 3 Face-to-Face Sessions:

  • The first face-to-face session is without a dog in a park or public place where we can observe other dogs from a suitable distance and discuss what we observe.

  • The other two sessions involve interacting with a friendly, well-trained dog to practice new skills in a real-world setting. The location of these sessions is decided to suit the family.

Course Options

• Using a Family Dog: If families prefer to use their own dog, I offer an assessment for an additional £50 to ensure the dog is suitable for the course.
